COVID-19 Call and Consultation

On 7 April, TCEN members held a rapid-response call to discuss COVID-19 challenges for the LGBTI+ movement and its communities across the Commonwealth. Present on the call were TCEN members representing the following countries:

  • Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria eSwatini, South Africa

  • Americas: Belize, Barbados, Canada, Jamaica St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago

  • Asia: Malaysia, Singapore

  • Europe: Cyprus, United Kingdom

29 participants responded to the online Consultation. These respondents represented 26 TCEN members from 22 Commonwealth countries, with work reaching the following areas:

  • Africa: Cameroon, Kenya, Ghana, Mauritius, eSwatini, Zambia

  • Americas: Antigua, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Vincent

  • Asia: Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka

  • Europe: Cyprus, Malta, Scotland, United Kingdom

  • Pacific: Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, New Caledonia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu

 

In total, this report is a culmination of evidence built from TCEN members and the LGBTI+ communities represented on the COVID-19 Rapid Response call, as well as those that responded to the online consultation.
